Women's Artistic Gymnastic

Girls of all ages perform artistic gymnastics from levels 1-10 or in international stream based on 7 stages. WAG consists of four apparatus:

Vault

After a run up of about twenty metres, the gymnast springs over the horse with both hands on it. There can be a varying degree of difficulty as the gymnast propels herself, spinning over the vault to a perfect landing.

Balance Beam

an exercise of flexibility, concentration, rhythm, expression and balance. The gymnast performs an acrobatic sequence with or without flight elements, gymnastic jumps and turns. This is where the young girls start. The beam is 10cm wide. Balance and poise are crucial to mastering this apparatus. By using the Low Beam it enables the gymnasts to lose their fear before being put on the main beam.

When confidence has been built up the girls are moved to the apparatus. The Olympic Beam is 10cm wide, 4.8 meters long and at a height of 1.2 meters. The gymnast will perform jumps, leaps and tumbles, this requires concentration and confidence to master.
